SAFETY AWARDS
SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Midnight Petroleum has the following protocols and programs in place:
- Daily pre-trip inspections on all company vehicles to ensure operational integrity
- Safety Committee ensures safe work spaces and an ever-expanding, comprehensive program
- In-house developed safety protocols from incident reports to comprehensive return-to-work program and a full-length Safety Handbook
- Lone Worker Program for all staff
- Regular LPOs and site inspections completed by our own employees
- Drivers complete a visual tank inspection to ensure a safe and proper delivery
DAILY SAFETY MEETINGS
At Midnight Petroleum, safe work procedures start with open communications and daily safety meetings. Safety meeting topics include, but aren’t limited to:
- Working at heights
- Working with motorized tools
- Road safety
- Correct lifting techniques
- Workplace complacency
- Safety interventions
We also cover topics that are relevant to life outside of work:
- Holiday safety
- Appliance safety
- Actively caring
- Behaviour-based safety
EMPLOYEE TRAINING
All employees are trained in WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) and TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Ground). Further training can include, but isn’t limited to:
- First Aid
- Small Space Confinement
- Gas Testing
- Fall Arrest
- Supervisor Safety Awareness
- Forklift Safety
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Procedures
OUR DRIVERS
There are always possible hazards that occur at each delivery site that can range from tank whistles and gauges, to ladders, to debris. Our drivers are trained to recognize the hazards in order to make every delivery safe. In addition to the standard safety training required for all Midnight employees, our drivers are trained in:
- Smith’s Driver training
- Fuel Product Handling
- Imperial Oil Driver Safety
OUR YARD WORKERS
Safe work procedures are not limited to our drivers, but also extend to the workers in the yard. Each member of our team working on the site must follow specific company rules. These include completing safe performance self-assessments, wearing the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for every task, and more.
